Economic Value

Ephindo among leading CBM players is well positioned to take advantage of this unconventional source of energy. Indonesia’s CBM reserves almost three times the size of current natural gas reserves.

Looking to capitalise on the extensive CBM resource in eleven basins in Sumatra and East Kalimantan coal regions, the Indonesian Government has already offered 32 CBM PSC's working area concessions during 2011. Plans are in place to offer another 13, given considerable interest being shown in this emerging alternative energy sector.

Leading research consultants estimate that CBM may eventually account for 15 percent of Indonesia’s gas supply. Recent news reports in Tempo, March 2011, cited Indonesian Government plans indicating CBM production could amount to 100 million standard cubic feet per day by 2015 and 900 mmscfd by 2020.
