Kutai Timur CBM Block
The PSC for this block covering an area of 1,400 square km, located 100 km west of the Sangatta shoreline, was signed 1st April 2011. It contains appreciable deposits of lignite and sub-bituminous coals, the focus of extensive coal mining development in the area.
Geological data reveals considerable cumulative thick seam development at depths ranging from 300 to 1,300 metres. Ephindo is the operator of this PSC in partnership with TOTAL, fifth largest listed global oil and gas company. Currently geological and geophysical studies are in progress to determine the sweet spots, best locations for the exploration and pilot well drilling programme.
